Do you feel burdened to do your part to fulfill the great commission at Hocutt?
An integral part of our commission from Jesus is that we are actively working to make disciples.
If you feel the Lord’s calling on your life to participate in the disciple-making process,
we have new opportunities for you starting this fall when we resume our mid-week, small group discipleship classes.

Classes for Women

Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by JoAnne Weaver – Tuesday mornings from 9:30–11:30 in the Second Street Study. This study compares our lives today to that of New Testament sisters, Mary and Martha. Like Mary, we long to sit at the Lord’s feet, but the daily demands of a busy world just won’t leave us alone. Like Martha, we love Jesus and want to serve him, yet we struggle with weariness, resentment, and feelings of inadequacy. Even today, Jesus is inviting us to choose “the better part” which includes both joy in His presence and service in His name. (Facilitator: Irene Clifford)

Missing Pieces: Real Hope When Life Doesn’t Make Sense by Jennifer Rothschild – Wednesday evenings  from 6:30–8:00
in MPF-207. This study takes a realistic look at the messy, mysterious uncertainties of faith. Does God care? Is He fair? Is He even there? Although you may know all the right answers, they don’t always feel right. God’s ways don’t always make sense, but He is trustworthy. If you are willing to draw close to Him and trust in Him more than in your feelings, God will reveal Himself and fill in your missing pieces. (Facilitator: Stephanie Hall)

Classes for Men

A Man and His Story (a 33 the Series Study) Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 in MPF-200. This study encourages men to pursue authentic manhood. To reach his full potential in Christ, every man must understand and come to grips with the defining moments and key relationships that have shaped his unique “story.” Participants in this study will explore their personal stories through a biblical perspective. With help from experts and regular guys, they will be equipped to learn from their past, come alive in their present, and enjoy God’s best in the future. (Facilitator: Troy Young)

The Commands and Teachings of Jesus by Eric Griffin Wednesday evenings from 6:30–8:00 in MPF-202. Participants learn what Jesus meant when He commanded in Matthew 28:19-20 to “go therefore and make disciples…teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” What were Jesus’ commandments to His disciples? What exactly did He teach while He was on this earth? By spending time studying the actual words of Jesus, we will come to know Him better, serve Him rightly, and worship Him fully. (Facilitator: Eric Griffin)

Classes for Men and Women

The Heart of Worship by Dean Brown Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 in MPF-201. This study explores what it means to genuinely worship the one true God of the universe.  By exploring the Scriptural mandate for God’s people to worship Him in spirit and in truth, the history of worship styles and preferences down through the ages, and the transforming power of regular worship in the lives of believers, participants in this study will come to better understand what worship is and how to rightly worship their God and Savior. (Facilitator: Dean Brown)
Financial Peace University by Dave RamseyWednesday evenings starting on September 13th from 6:30–8:00 in the Chapel.
