A Message from your Hocutt Elders:

2 Timothy 1:7 tells us: God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. In difficult circumstances, we do not fear the future or our place in it. But we also recognize that a spirit of love and of a sound mind compels us to act wisely to protect the most vulnerable members of our church family and community.

For this reason, your Elders have determined that the soundest course of action at this time is to suspend all large-group campus meetings for a period of two weeks. This will include:

  • Sunday School, Worship, and evening activities for children and youth on March 15 and March 22
  • Wednesday morning Worship and evening activities for adults, children, and Youth on March 18 and March 25
  • The Family Night activity scheduled for tomorrow is cancelled
  • Seniors’ trip to Lexington, scheduled for this Thursday, will be postponed until a later date

We will not meet together, but thanks to technology, we can still worship together! We have been working behind the scenes since the renovation to add the capability to Live Stream our services to the internet. After a little extra work this week, we are excited to announce that we will be able to provide a live worship service online beginning tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM! Pastor Steve and Pastor Dean will be leading worship from the closed Worship Center, and each of you can access the stream and participate from your own home.

To access the Live Stream, go to our web site – hocuttbaptist.com – and click Worship Online, or simply scroll down the home page. Then click on the viewer screen to start the service running. Video of each service will be captured and archived so that it can be viewed at any time on the Hocutt Baptist Church channel at vimeo.com.

It is impossible to physically pass an offering plate in an online church. The ministry needs of the church will go on, however. Please consider transitioning to Online Giving, at least temporarily, so our needs will continue to be met. Go to hocuttbaptist.com and click Give.

Also remember to give freely from your spirit of love as we try to assist in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Check on your Sunday School classmates, friends, and neighbors. Make a trip to the grocery for a Senior, so they can stay out of crowds. And please, if you should need any assistance, reach out to a Deacon, Elder, or Pastor.

We love you, our Hocutt family, and pray for your safety and calm, secure in our Sovereign God and His Mighty Power. We look forward to worshiping with you online at hocuttbaptist.com tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM.
